Series
Panels | Blown | Casting
"This series of work is a continuation into my own investigation of creating objects that demonstrate transformation, specifically the liminal space between thought and object. The panels are an abstract represtation of what this gray area could look like. This is due to my own interest in understanding what the space between space could look like. I'm also interested in perception itself, not just my own but other peoples perception of the same object. Two people can stand in the same place on the same day and still see two different things, interpret it different ways and disagree on what they have discovered." |

"I obscure imagery using enamelling and sandblasting techniques. All of my drawings, paintings, panels, and carved work contain circles and rings. They are important to my practice. A quote from one of my favourite texts; A Natural History of the Senses by Diane Ackerman: (Page 283) "Few symbols have ever meant as much to us; regardless of our religion, politics, age, or gender, as rings. We give rings to symbolise infinite love and the close harmoney of two souls. Rings remind us of the simple cell that were the oldest versions of life, and the symphony of cells we are now... Rings halo what is sacred. We draw rings around things to emphasise them... Rings symbolise the infinite: we are only ever beginning to end. Rings suggest eternity, agelessness and perfection... We bring the world into focus with the globes of our eyes, worlds within worlds." |

"The cast work is the "object" of the thought and object process. They appear as odd celluar forms, bubbling up from the floor, oozing into space. When we see objects, we are inspried to make other objects which can then go on to inspire other people." |
